Dedza Chief Preventive Health Officer (CPHO) & Health Surveillance Assistants (HSAs) receiving the donation from the Minister of Health & UNICEF representatives
While sometimes it may be practical and efficient, paper-based data collection present a number of challenges including data loss and untimeliness in transferring the data especially in the remote health facilities. These challenges were experienced during the past polio vaccination campaigns in Dedza district, however, this year the district has a sigh of relief. The District has been bailed out by UNICEF with digital gadgets for data collection and monitoring. On 10th August 2022, the district received 445 hand set phones and 34 Mi-Fis for internet connection to be distributed in its 34 Health Centre’s. With these gadgets, health workers will be able to send their data timely which is a vital requirement in the polio Supplementary Immunization Activity for real time Data visualization at central level to enable decision making.
